Sorry,but you are wrong, rui costa is not a foward , he is a classic nº 10 , we had pauleta but he is no drogba or henry, furthermore he only started the opening game against greece, he was on the bench for the rest of the competition...

ok, i understand your point, but you can't overlook the fact that we are a small countrty with 10 milion while Brazil have almost 190 milion!!!, therefore have much more players, and a bigger probability to form world class players. Therefore sporting have a bigger merit than the brazilian clubs because they have less "raw material".

when i said we can't compare sporting's basis with brasilian team's basis, i meant to say that the brasilian teams are better. But Sporting basis > any other in europe (except maybe, for Ajax's)

we have every right to be compared to Brazil even if we don't have the silverware to back it up but then again we don't have 200 million people. for such a small country we have always produced excellent players. the current wave of young players show no fear and it's really encouraging to see that because with the skill they have i can see portugal winning a major trophy in the next few years.

I agree with you K1rac,why can't we compare with the brazilians. In the last 20 years we have produced the best players in the world, such as Figo,Rui Costa,Simão,Ronaldo, Quaresma,Fernando Couto,Vitor Baia,Paulo sousa (two times european champion). The only reason that we didn't won the euro and the world cup is because we have't a world class foward like Henry or Drogba

no? from sporting came Figo , Quaresma , Ronaldo , Nani , simao , Miguel Veloso , Joao Moutinho , Yannick Djálo and manymore but these are the most know ... their all Top Quality Players , Figo has been best player in world , CR7 maybe this year , Quaresma and Simao are considered among the best , Nani may become the best , Veloso will become the best and Moutinho is just great , Yannick is good and has lot ogf potential... this from 1 club! so ... why cant we even compare it with Brazuillian?
