I had the chance to watch both Michel and Zizou. Platini was majestic. I used to be open mouthed watching this boring Juve, just because of an incredible style and elegance. He was both more of an attacking force and a result-leader than Zizou. The problem with Platini is that his style of play is not represented by goals, and that young ones tend always to favour contemporary stars. Platini's tv-view of the game, long passing, long court view, and denial of defeat were unprecedented.

Platini is overrated especially in France and Italy (we know why!). Zidane is far better. Platini was a good european player. Zidane is an artist who can rank with Pelé Maradona.

a modern player should reasonably hold the title as best ever. today's soccer is million times more intense than that 20 years ago. thus, zidane and henry are/were better than Platini

Just compare with zidane's euro2000. Yes, Zidane won a world cup but he played badly in the 1st 2 games, missed 2 games due to suspension, did nothing in quarter-final & semi-final, only did well in the final...1 good game & 4 bad games!

Maradona could do absolutely everything, whether it was dribbling, passing, shooting, finishing, freekicks. Platini also was one of the most complete players ever. What couldn't he do? He scored lots of goals from midfield whether freekicks or open play, he had a good turn of pace, unbelievable ball control touch and technique, and was one of the best passers I've ever seen. Platini is one of the best midfield players in the history of the game.
